August News

August 3, 2016

August is a busy month and we aren't even into the full swing of the racing season. To start with, Aug 6th is Bushwacker 5K. Info is on the website. After the post-race, NWFTC members are invited to Hooters for some wings & beverages. We'll buy some (a lot of) wings & drinks. If you want something special (BBQ shrimp or whatever) that's on you. If all you are eating/drinking is what we purchase, please bring $5.00/person to tip your waitress. Please email if you plan to attend so we know how big an area to reserve at Hooters.
Next up is our very own Election Run on Aug 13th. It's a 5K Prediction Run (no watches, GPS's, music, etc) followed by a picnic. And No, you don't have to run. You can just come to the picnic. There's a pool, showers, and a pot-luck dinner afterwards...followed by our election of officers for 2016-2017 and Grand Prix awards for the 2015-2016 season. The Track Club will provided the meat, beverages, and tableware. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Again, please email if you plan on attending so we know how much food to buy and to get you on the access list at El Matador.
The following Saturday, Aug 20th is Josh Sprinkle 5K at The Landing. There are race details on the website. Please come out and support this worthwhile fund raiser for our local high school runners.
Last but not least, August 27th is the 2nd Annual Chief Binnicker Memorial 9K starting in Bob Hope Village. Why 9K, that's and odd distance? Chief Binnicker was the 9th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. If you didn't run it last year, come out and try it this year. I almost bet you will PR for that distance!
